I’ve been in the flooring industry since the early ’80s and this university is one of the best education courses I’ve received to date. The online courses are very helpful with the technical information that’s needed, but their focus is also on helping us understand the necessary tools and unbiased fact gathering that’s needed for a proper inspection. I like that our course is available online rather than a hard copy binder as it allows us to always have up-to-date information at our fingertips. We can also go back and review our courses as much as we want, as well as taking the exams as many times as we’d like to keep us fresh and on top of things.
The on-site training that I received in Myrtle Beach last month was phenomenal. The way they have you do the online courses and exams at your own pace removes the stress and worry of learning it all in a short period of time on-site pressured with the thought of an exam in the end. This process truly allowed me to learn and retain much better online and on-site because of this.
The on-site training was hands-on providing information on proper tools to use, and being able to use some as they took us through many different scenarios allowing us to actually do several mock and one true inspection from beginning to end with different types of flooring issues over the week. We also went through the process of report writing, learning the importance of each portion of the report and how to break it down so that it paints a clear picture for our customers when they’re reviewing the report. After writing our reports we would review, discuss and critique them so we can provide successful and unbiased reports.
Last, but not least, this university is not just about teaching a course and then wishing you well. They are passionate about providing the knowledge and expertise for each individual to be able to be a successful inspector, but also make themselves available to help guide and direct us even after we receive our inspection certification. Their passion to help each student and the flooring industry as a whole is amazing, and I’m very thankful for them and consider them partners as we work together in making a positive difference in our industry.
