CAREER HISTORY |
Mike Burgener has over 44 years in the floor covering industry. He is recognized as one of the top industry’s trainers and inspectors. Mike began his floor covering career in 1967. Taking a little time out to serve his country in the military he came home and started a commercial floor covering installation service. His company specialized in military bases; this brought him to the gulf coast of Florida in 1978. His company has work in all of the armed service bases in the south-east. His reputation as a critical installation craftsman caught the attention of the All Industry Council who at that time was working on creating a floor covering installation curriculum for trade schools. Mike went on to create one of the industry’s first full-time floor covering installation schools and to write the training program for a certification program for existing installers. He has been performing inspections for all facets of the floor covering industry since 1988. Architects and developers have used Mike’s expertise in the design phase along with installation guidance during the construction process. He is a highly sought source for expert testimony when cases end up in litigation. He lives in Crestview, Florida with his wife Lisa and has four grown children and five granddaughters and one grandson. He serves as a board member of his local church and works with many community organizations. He is the former Executive Director, of the Central Alabama Floor Covering Association. Additional responsibilities included the procurement of both private and Federal funds to facilitate a JTPA program to train displaced steelworkers and cross-train them into floor covering mechanics. The former Project Director/Chief Instructor of the Nationally Acclaimed Flooring Installation School in Birmingham Alabama. The former President of the National Association of Floor Cover Instructors. Voted floor covering Person of the Year in 1992, by the readers of Floor Covering Weekly. |
